A high school in Renfrew was on lockdown this afternoon as police completed a nearby investigation. Communications Manager for the Renfrew County District School Board, Jonathan Laderoute, says around 1:30 pm staff at R.C.I. got a call from the OPP saying they were dealing with an evolving situation a few blocks away from the school on Bank Street. Laderoute says at no point was the safety of staff or students at risk.
Laderoute says within five minutes the principal got a call from local police to let them know the situation had been resolved. The Communications Manager says he can’t remember a time when they’ve had to go into a lockdown during the first week back to school, but adds they took the proper approach because you’d rather be safe than sorry.
