The remainder of schools across Renfrew County are back up and running today to start a fresh school year and that is expected to cause a few headaches on the roads. Constable Shawn Peever with the Upper Ottawa Valley OPP says you may want to plan your morning and afternoon commute ahead of time.
Peever also says the minimum fine for failing to stop for a school bus is $400 and 6 demerit points. This applies whether you are meeting or following a school bus, and includes multi-lane roads. The only exception is when driving on a road with a median.
