The County of Renfrew is looking at traffic safety measures along Highway 60 at the intersection of Lake Dore Road (County Road 30) in Golden Lake. North Algona Wilberforce Mayor, James Brose, has sent an email to officials at the county indicating how busy the area has become as a result of business on the reserve. Mayor Brose says something needs to be done to improve safety and traffic flows as it’s not uncommon to wait 20 to 30 minutes to get from the reserve boundary back to Highway 60 on a weekend. At the county operations committee meeting this month, a motion was carried to conduct traffic counts in the area before contacting MTO to explore options for improving traffic flow at the intersection and possibly requesting a four way stop sign or traffic lights.
