The Hydro One Outage map has shown a series of outages in the Upper Ottawa Valley this afternoon.
Listeners report loss of power in the Bonnechere Valley about 3:15 this afternoon, which were shown on the Hydro One Outage Map shortly thereafter.
The utility initially estimated the Fort Coulonge area would have electricity restored about 6:15 this evening, but as at 4PM showed service restored.
The outage map as at 445PM shows a wide swath of the Valley without service, ranging from Wilno to Petawawa and Pembroke and including Eganville, all of Bonnechere Valley and western portions of Renfrew.
Outages extend as far south as Cloyne on Highway 41.
Restoration to 15.5 thousand customers is now estimated at 6:15 this evening.
Although Hydro One has given no explanation for the outage, the utility says it is under investigation.
Loss of power corresponds with a band of thunderstorms rolling through the Ottawa Valley this afternoon.
