The Ottawa Valley Waste Recovery Centre (OVWRC) has put its imagination to good use.
The OVWRC has won a creativity award at the Municipal Waste Association Annual Conference.
Elizabeth Graham tells myFM the accolade is for OVWRC’s social media campaign centering on items residents should NOT recycle.
The OVWRC spokesperson says there was a lot of buzz locally, and even some self-confessed guilt ensued.
Graham says some of the examples posted posed either operational difficulties, health and safety issues- or both.
It’s not the first time the Ottawa Valley Waste Recovery Centre has won an award; while proud of the hardware, the OVWRC spokesperson is more impressed with the response from residents who have improved their recycling habits once their errant ways were brought to public attention.
