A man charged with an alleged attempted murder in Renfrew remains in maximum security at the Ottawa Carleton Detention Centre (OCDC). 34-year-old Darren Pearce was arrested and charged back in June after a stabbing. The victim was air lifted to an Ottawa hospital to be treated for serious injuries. Pearce was arrested and charged with attempted murder and robbery with violence following the incident and has been in police custody since. On Wednesday afternoon, he appeared by video conference at the Pembroke courthouse. Another court date was set for Thursday next week (August 1st) at 1:15 pm to give lawyers time for a pre-council trial. Pearce is also facing drug trafficking charges from a separate incident back in March. He will remain behind bars at OCDC for the foreseeable future.
