More than 80 cleaners at Garrison Petawawa will be in a legal strike or lockout position next Thursday.
They are employees of GDI Services which is under contract by the Defence Department.
Local 639 of the Union of National Defence Employees, a bargaining unit of
the Public Service Alliance of Canada, says there are numerous
outstanding contract issues. They include missing two scheduled pay increases,
seeking rollbacks to Health and Safety provisions, and the cancellation of two paid
sick days legislated by the former Liberal government.
PSAC says there is one scheduled meeting between the Union and GDI on the eve
of next week’s strike / lockout deadline.
