Renfrew’s Firefighters will be doing their own laundry.
Officials say it will mean improved departmental safety, and save the Town big time on sending loads out to the cleaners.
Renfrew Fire Chief Kevin Welsh says the purchase of a Bunker Gear Industrial Washing Machine for $10 500 from Delex has many benefits.
The Fire Chief tells myFM that outside cleaning of the materials was costing $100 per unit of gear, and had to be done most every time answering the call of duty put crews up close with contamination.
Renfrew Town Council authorized the expenditure, first approved as part of the 2018 Fire department Budget, at it meeting last night.
