The Town of Arnprior will go with Renfrew County’s Option Number One for work on the Madawaska Street Bridge. Arnprior is saying no thank-you to the chance to put up money to reconfigure the sidewalks on the aging structure crossing the river. John Steckley, General Manager of Operations, speareheaded discussion of the file at the municipal meeting Monday (July 9th).
Town taxpayers will not get off scott-free, as while the work is being done, Steckley says there will be upgrades to the municipal water main running beneath the bridge deck. He says initial project estimates peg the water main work at 175 thousand dollars. Money for the water main work will be funded in part through development charges and partly from Town reserves.
