A local resident took the law into their own hands in an effort to stop a drunk driver recently. Renfrew OPP got a call around 10:30 Saturday night in Admaston Bromely from a witness to a possible impaired driver who had made a citizen’s arrest. Police arrived to the Whelan Road location fo find a male driver who they believe had been drinking. After failing a road side test, an 18 year old man from Renfrew was arrested for drunk driving and for being a novice driver with a blood alcohol content above 0. He was released on a promise to appear in court in Renfrew on September 12th. Witnesses to suspected impaired drivers are encouraged to call 9-1-1 and the OPP do not encourage anyone to make a citizen’s arrest for public safety reasons.
