Tuesday afternoon was all about celebrating active transportation. Beachburg Road hosted members of County Council and staff along with members of the Ottawa Valley Cycling & Active Transportation Alliance to celebrate the addition of hardened shoulders. Warden Jennifer Murphy says continuing to do work that encourages active transportation is so important.
Co-chair of OVCATA, Ish Theilheimer, adds that the group is thrilled with the county’s support.
Theilheimer adds that the location of Beachburg Road was a fitting choice because it’s one of the newest roads with hardened shoulders, and it was also the site of a fatal crash where a cyclist was killed several years ago.
