The summer season is still young, but it's amazing how some cyclists forget the rules of the road. OPP in Renfrew would like to remind everyone that the proper place for bicycles is on the roadway, not the sidewalk. Constable Janice Sawbridge says the rule is in place for public safety.
Sawbridge adds that officers are hearing a number of complaints about cyclists on the sidewalk, from stores and other residents along Raglan Street South in Renfrew between Hall Avenue and Munroe Avenue. The Town of Renfrew currently has a sidewalk by-law on the books, and if a cyclist is caught riding on the sidewalk, they will be slapped with a fine.
