We’re coming down to the wire for municipal election hopefuls to make it official.
With nominations closing this Friday afternoon at 2:00, we currently have just two names on the ballot for Renfrew’s Mayor.
Town councilor Mike Coulas and former councilor Kate Windle make up your options for the October 24th vote, barring a last minute entrant. It’s yet to be seen if incumbent mayor Don Eady will join the race.
Council spots are also up for grabs, with four hopefuls on the ballot so far: Andrew Dick, Richard “Clint” McWhirter, Guy Longtin, and Jason Legris.
Candidates are also vying for School Board Trustee seats. Susan Humphries is the lone candidate for the Public School position covering Renfrew, Greater Madawaska, and Horton. Anne Haley is also running alone at this time for the Separate School Board Trustee position that oversees Renfrew, Horton, and Whitewater Region.
Colette Stitt is the only one who has filed for the French Public School Board Trustee position for Renfrew, Lanark, and South Algonquin. Meanwhile, there is a confirmed race for the French Separate School Board Trustee seat, as Robert Lemelin and Daniel Levasseur have both put their hat in for the ring for the position.
If you’re interested in running for one of the available positions you still have until Friday’s deadline to get in touch with Town Hall, who will guide you through the process.
You can also find up-to-date confirmations of nominees and information on where, when, and how to vote this fall on the Town of Renfrew’s website.
