A 50 year old man from Bryson is facing charges under the tobacco tax act after the Surete du Quebec seized more than 106,000 contraband cigarettes yesterday (Oct.23).

Schools in Renfrew County were well represented yesterday during the Eastern Ontario Secondary School Athletic Association Cross Country Championships. In the Midget Girls category, Sophie Warren from Valour finished in 4th place.

BARRIE MAN CHARGED AFTER COLLISION ON GRATTON ROAD WEDNESDAY

One driver has been charged after a collision on Gratton Road in Bonnechere Valley Township on Wednesday. Killaloe OPP a vehicle driven by a Barrie man struck a Pembroke woman's vehicle and both drivers were taken to hospital by ambulance.

BRYSON THEATRE DEMOLISHED

For 62 years it stood in downtown Bryson, but the Bryson Theatre has been brought down. It was finally demolished last week after it was severely damaged in a fire in January. When it opened in 1952, the theatre was hailed as the Pontiac?s most modern theatre.
