The construction on the new town hall in Litchfield is going well and is on schedule. According to the Equity, Litchfield Mayor Colleen Larivière said the municipality is on track to meet the 14 week schedule.

2016 PETAWAWA SHOWCASE OPENS THIS WEEKEND

An early spring staple in the Ottawa Valley is returning this weekend. The Petawawa Spring Showcase kicks off today and continues until Sunday at the Petawawa Civic Centre. Organizers are expecting roughly 10,000 people to attend.

Labour's National Day of Mourning ceremony took on extra meaning this year after the death of a construction worker near Arnprior just this week. The ceremony to honour fallen workers was held this noon hour (Thursday) at O'Brien Park in Renfrew.

TOWN PLANS TO DEAL WITH DISCOLOURED TAP WATER

Though the quality of water in Renfrew received top marks, it's not aesthetically pleasing thanks to the manganese levels. Some residents have complained of brown or rust colouring to their drinking water, which town officials blame on the naturally occuring mineral.

FISHING SHOW IN ARNPRIOR SATURDAY

It's an event that organizers hope will renew interest in the sport of fishing in Arnprior. A swap meet of sorts is planned for the Arnprior marina on Saturday. Organizer Bill Craig says it's a place for people to come and either sell or buy used fishing equipment.

Today is the National Day of Mourning to recognize and remember workers injured or killed on the job. Unions, labour councils, families and community partners gather annually on April 28th to mourn those lost and vow to prevent more by promoting safer workplaces.
