Walmart is trying to help out flagging donations at Salvation Army kettles across the Valley. Sally Ann spokesperson Sean Maddox is encouraging everyone to give Saturday at the Walmart kettles.

DONATIONS DOWN AT SALVATION ARMY KETTLES

Donations are way down for the Salvation Army Kettle Campaign in Renfrew and Arnprior. The goal of $32,000 is still far out of reach with just five days left. They still need $16,500 to meet the target - so everyone is being asked to dig deep.

GARRISON PETAWAWA TOPS $130,000 IN GIVING TO LOCAL CHARITIES

Garrison Petawawa has been in the Christmas spirit all year long. So far, they have given $130,000 to local charities in 2014. The Renfrew County United Way was handed a cheque for more than $60,400 to help them reach their goal for this year.

POLICE SEARCH FOR 15-YEAR-OLD MISSING FROM RENFREW

Police are looking for the public's help in finding a 15 year old girl who has been missing for almost a week. Marydith White was last seen in Renfrew last Saturday (Dec 13). She is described as 5 feet one inch tall, 200 pounds with a heavy build.

Awards were presented Thursday evening to a number of Admaston-Bromley citizens who have achieved great things in 2014. The Davdonest Farm owned by David and Joan Reid won the Bank of Montreal honour as one of Ontario?s Top 10 Farm Families.

SUNSHINE COACH GETS INFUSION OF PROVINCIAL GAS TAX MONEY

Renfrew is one of the few rural towns in Renfrew County to receive any provincial gas tax money. This year, they wil get $228,414 to help support the Sunshine Coach Service which qualifies as a public transportation service.

WHITEWATER PAYOUTS TO REMAIN PUBLIC

The accounts at Whitewater Region will remain public and part of the council package. There were some concerns that the recipients of the cheques might fall under the privacy act and be exempt from public scrutiny.

MAJOR WORK RECOMMENDED FOR SOME MCNAB-BRAESIDE BUILDINGS

A lot of work needs ro be done to McNab-Braeside buildings and properties over the coming 10 years. The total just for the buildings would be $1.45 million - while an additional $332,000 will be required to so other site work like parking lots and septic systems.
