POLICE SEEK HELP IN SOLVING MAJOR THEFT

Renfrew OPP are seeking the public's help in solving a major theft. On May 9th, thieves entered a garage on Highway 132 in the Township of Admaston Bromley. They gained access to a safe and stole a large amount of silver coins estimated in excess value of $50,000.

18-year-old Skylar Eady of Renfrew remains in jail and two youths are charged after an apparent bizarre night of crime. At about 2:30 am Saturday night police responded to a break and enter in progress at a residence on Fourth Chute Road in Admaston-Bromley.

ARNPRIOR MAN FACES CHARGES - INCLUDING THEFT - FOLLOWING AN ACCIDENT

A crash Sunday evening led to the recovery of a stolen vehicle and the arrest of a suspect. Police were called just before 9 pm to a single vehicle accident at Baskin Drive and the White Lake Road. The driver had fled the scene.

MILITARY PRESENCE EXPECTED IN CALABOGIE

The military will be conducting a routine training exercise on July 30th and 31st in the Calabogie area. Residents are being advised that they may see armed soldiers and there could be some noise from weapons and explosives.

A New York congressman is raising concerns about the proposed idea of shipping radioactive waste from Chalk River to the United States. In a statement, Congressman Brian Higgins says without a comprehensive review and plan, both parties are setting up a disaster.

OPP SEARCHING FOR BRAZEN THIEVES

Renfrew OPP are looking for a dump trailer that was stolen from a property on Crawford Street in Cobden on July 18th. Police say two men were seen hooking up the trailer to an early 2000's Dodge Ram pickup truck.

MILD EARTHQUAKE SHAKES LOCAL RESIDENTS

If you felt a little rumble under your feet yesterday, it was definitely an earthquake. Natural Resources Canada recorded a weak 2.7 magnitude earthquake yesterday morning around 11am, about 13 kilometres southwest of Pembroke.
